Stories have been with us for as long as our time on earth. They can influence, motivate and inspire us in a way that raw information can’t, and for this reason, are widely used in promotion, marketing, education and for raising awareness.
These days we find stories, increasingly, online—a space highly saturated with visual content and media of all types vying for a piece of the action. Amongst them are not-for-profits or NFPs, of which Australia has about 600,000. The bulk of these are small, non-employing entities relying on volunteer and others’ contributions.
Being driven by factors other than profit means NFPs tend to have authentic stories to tell, although perhaps not the means to do so. But all is not lost because plenty of emerging filmmakers are looking for a good story to tell, to develop their craft and increase their employability.
My dream is to bring the groups together to make it happen.
